The Breath Primer
Five short lessons, five practices, meant to be taken one a morning. Breathing is the only life-sustaining act you can consciously take hold of — and it is observable from outside. That makes it the practical bridge between the body you can measure and the body you can only feel, which is why everything here starts with it.

The five days
One idea and one practice per morning.
- Day 101 / 05
Take the baseline
Day one — take the baseline. Before changing anything about your breath, find out what it currently does when nobody is watching.
- Day 202 / 05
Lengthening the exhale
Day two — the long exhale. The single most reliable calming manoeuvre in respiratory physiology, learnable in one sitting.
- Day 303 / 05
The resonant pace
Day three — the resonant pace. Around six breaths a minute, breathing falls into step with the heart's own pressure reflex. This is the pace the research keeps finding.
- Day 404 / 05
Breathe into the body
Day four — breathe into the body. The pace from yesterday, plus attention: the first step from breathwork toward the body scan that anchors the full method.
- Day 505 / 05
Carry it out of the chair
Day five — carry it out of the chair. The pattern is only yours once it shows up uninvited, in traffic and in meetings. Plus: where to go from here, honestly.
All five days are readable here, free and without an address — start with day one. Coming back on your own for day two is the harder half — there is no morning reminder to do that for you yet, so bookmarking this page is the reliable way for now.
Breath practices are generally safe and are not risk-free. If you are pregnant, have a cardiovascular or respiratory condition, a seizure disorder, or a history of panic attacks, talk to your own physician before starting — and never practise breath retention in or near water.
